1 clove garlic, minced

1⁄2 teaspoon sea salt 1⁄4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 teaspoon chili powder 3⁄4 cup balsamic vinegar 1⁄4 cup water 1⁄3 cup apricot preserves 1 tablespoon Worcestershire 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Heat oil over medium-low heat. Add onion and cook for 5 minutes. Add garlic and spices; cook for one minute more. Add remaining ingredients and simmer on low heat for approximately 20 minutes or until reduced by one-third.

If you like a smooth BBQ sauce, cool the mixture slightly and blend with an immersion blender. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
